ART PRESS

2025 Alaska Women Speak Journal
In Spring 2025, my floral photographs were chosen to be featured in the publication with the theme, Flowers Speak a Secret Language!

2024 Alaska Women Speak Journal
My artwork design, Winter Hygge, was chosen to be featured in the Alaska Women Speak Winter 2024 journal. This is my second time being chosen for their publication and I am truly grateful for this opportunity to share my artwork with the art community, friends and fellow Alaskans..

2022, 64th Parallel Juried Exhibition Show- Fairbanks
In October 2022, my artwork, "Love Carrots," shown below, was chosen to be in the 64th Parallel Juried Exhibition Show at the Bear Gallery in Fairbanks! One month later, I participated in a "Limited Edition" art show at the Bear Gallery where happy collectors bought my Muskox relief prints and Northern Nights framed mini prints. All artwork submitted was required to be under 12' x 12" in size!

2022 Alaska Women Speak Journal
My artwork, a painted art tile (shown below) was chosen to be featured on the cover of "Alaska Women Speak" in the Winter 2022 issue. Alaska Women Speak is a literary journal, published quarterly in Alaska. The winter issue also featured my hand painted "Northern Nights Alaska Art Tile" and a beautiful Arctic winter landscape photo, inside the journal. It was an honor to have been chosen for this wonderful Alaska publication.

2022 FAIRBANKS DAILY NEWS MINER, December 2022

My hometown newspaper featured a front page article and photo spread about my other business, Santa’s Letters and Gifts, which I founded in 2002 and operated for 21 years. Letters are still available, seasonally, at Pamela Sue Art & Designs.

ABOUT ME
Much of my childhood was spent outdoors. Summers were the best -- running barefoot through the grass, swimming and tubing in nearby rivers, and sleeping under the stars at night with friends.
Since I was a young girl, I have loved creating and have explored many mediums. From creating leather goods and sewn apparel to explorations in macramé, pottery and printmaking.

EDUCATION

My education includes attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where I received a AAS in Applied Business and specialized in Entrepreneurship and a second AAS in Applied Accounting.

Additional coursework included studying graphic design, typography and publication design, and web design.

BUSINESS FOUNDATION

After graduation, I founded my former company, Santa’s Letters and Gifts, and built my company’s first website. It was exciting to design the first Santa Letter stationery and gift packages, and complete several iterations over the years.

Design work also included creating birchbark gift tags from my photography, ornament gift tags featuring Santa, marketing materials, signage, and working on design concepts for our gold rush stationery which is used for our Robert Service poems.

In late 2023, after 21 years of operation, I closed Santa's Letters and Gifts to move forward with my dream to be an artist, and create and design products. My former company, Santa's Letters and Gifts, was a huge source of inspiration, creativity, and connections with many wonderful customers and friends, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to have these amazing connections and experiences.

In 2023, I founded my new art business, Pamela Sue Art & Designs, and thus began my art journey. It has been rewarding and fulfilling to see my artwork come to life, be chosen for a local juried art show and literary art journal, and sold at local venues, events, and on my website.

Today, I am studying surface pattern design, while I create lovely relief and woodcut prints, and continue painting tiles and ornaments, and watercolor landscapes (flowers and garden vegetables).

The outdoors has been the biggest inspiration for creating my artwork and I am grateful to live in Alaska where there are many beautiful landscapes, flora and fauna, and our lovely garden and flowers.

In closing, my mission is to create cheerful artwork and designs that celebrate the beauty and wonder of nature (and light up your life). Thank you for visiting my store and I look forward to connecting with you.
